ADC Theatre 2008 Trip
On Saturday 29th November 2008, the SLST went for a day out to the ADC Theatre, Cambridge.
In what is now becoming an annual trip, SLST were first given a talk on how to light a set, by Graham and Chris. Next, they treated us to a light show, promoting all the lights in the current rig. Chris, Graham, Peter and Alex also gave us a tour of the theatre when we got a chance to see backstage, in the wings, the flying area, the patching room, the loft, the old and new workshop, changing rooms and the new mini theatre.
After an hour of free time in Cambridge for lunch, we returned to the theatre for the matinee performance of "Theseus and the Minotaur: The Panto".
A great time was had by all and pictures from the day can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=72316&l=6f37d&id=601132518 and you can also watch a video of the light show below or by clicking here to go to YouTube.
The School Concert 2008
The last concert in the QH, this side of Christmas, took place last night and was, as usual, a huge success!
The bands used various parts of the staging for performing including the main stage itself, the rostra and infront of the stage. We therefore spent the entire TAA and time after school rigging lights and setting up sound.
Well done to all involved. Mr Page congratulated the team on the great lighting and the idea of projecting the school logo onto the tabs and cyc. We all thought Mr Balaam's diamond lighting effect on the cyc was great.
Operators were as follows for the event:
Technical Directors: Andrew Smith and Alan Wright
Lighting Director: James Ferguson
Lighting Operator and Programmer: George Barrett
Lighting Operators: Ben Thomas and Daniel Myles
Sound Operators: Alex Firth, Omar Smith and Alan Wright
Tabs Operators: Alan Wright and Trent Allen
Projection Technicians: Daniel Myles, James Hart and Joe Kirk
Stage Management: Alan Wright
Gallery Technicians: Trent Allen and William Marshall
Backstage Calls: Andrew Smith

Laurence Power Concert
Last night saw the return of an "Old Wycombiensian" to RGS when Laurence Power, an ex-pupil came to perform in his very own concert.
Laurence Power played a number of pieces on his Viola, accompanied by his pianist.
After some DMX problems, our lighting rig consisted of floorcans uplighting the pillars and tabs, LED floorcans uplighting the greys, parcans side-lighting the greys, minuets as top light and preludes as front light.
The concert was, as said by Mr Venvell, "brilliantly done, as usual" by the Team Prefects and Jack Adams.
Photos and wallpapers for your computer are now available in our Galleries.
Space Saver Concert
The first ever concert in the Space took place last Saturday and certainly made for some interesting rigging for SLST.
We used both our T-Bars with some "Minuettes" for front and side light and our LED floorcans for some colour on the ceiling.
The audience had great fun, as did the Year 10s and Prefects operating the event, enjoying various acts including limbo, singing, bands, Japanese drumming, comedy and drama improvisations.
The event was certainly a great start to what is likely to a be a string of many Space Saver concerts.

PA Autumn Masked Ball 2008
This year's Autumn Ball was operated by the Team Prefects - Andrew, Alan & James.
The theme was 'Fireworks' and so the team had fun rigging bright and vibrant lighting for the evening.
There was also a band playing during the evening and so disco lighting was used also.
The team were congratulated on the excellent lighting, hard work and effort put in to making the evening successful. Thanks also goes to those who helped with the rigging in TAA and on Friday after school.
Autumn Recital 2008
The first of this year's recital took place last night with a wide range of great music.
This event was operated by the Year 10s and because so many volunteered, the operating was shared throughout the evening.
The thanks of Mr Balaam and the Team Prefects go to the following operators:
Alex Firth
Will Marshall
Daniel Myles
Omar Smith
Mr Venvell agreed that the evening went just as smoothly as normal. A big well done to all those involved!
Jazz Evening
The annual Jazz evening has come around again with the chance for the team to show off some atmospheric lighting and to use some smoke!!
A big well done from the prefects, and no doubt Mr Balaam, to the operators for running the evening as smoothly as normal:
Sound: Jack Adams
Lighting: George Barrett & Steve Butler
Smoke: David Austin
Gallery Technician: Trent Allen
Welcome to the new Year 9s on the team, especially Michael and Callum who came to the Jazz Evening to see how things work at a 'live gig'. As Mr Balaam said, signing up for events and making yourself known is definitely the way to get involved in the team and learn lots.
Well done to all those who played in the Jazz bands (including Zak Woodman, Ben Thomas and Trent Allen who are also in SLST) - it was a great evening.

Jeans for Genes Band Gig
A huge well done to all involved in the gig in assembly on Wednesday this week. You did a great job, and I was very impressed at what was achieved with minimal staff intervention. Younger team members should be inspired by such a good performance. Getting involved in setting up such things is the way to learn, and gain valuable experience. If you saw things you liked, do ask how they were done!
Andrew says: You can watch the assembly again, below.
